The Iris is the Tennessee state cultivated flower. In this picture, it is surrounded by many other Tennessee state symbols, such as the mockingbird, the state bird and the bobwhite quail, the state game bird. Also included in the piece are the state insects, the ladybug and the firefly, the tulip poplar, Tennessee's state tree, the passion flower, the state wildflower, and Tennesee's state flag.
